Hundreds left in the dark in rural north Mayo region

Over 900 homes, farms and businesses in the greater Erris area are without power this evening.

A mass power outage was reported shortly after 11 a.m. this morning.

The ESB have stated that the estimated restoration time for power in the area is 7:15 p.m. this evening.

This comes after local Fine Gael councillor Gerry Coyle recently blasted infrastructural deficiencies in the area, stating that "the midges could be out and we'd lose power (in Erris)."
