Mayo's deep freeze ends as temperatures set to soar

Ireland looks set to be experiencing one extreme to another, according to the latest from Met Eireann.

Take a look below at what the weather has in store for the county.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 11

The last of the rain will clear east Connacht on Saturday morning, mist and fog will clear also and sunny spells will break through locally.

Dry of the rest of the day apart from a few isolated showers.

Lying snow will gradually melt through the day.

Mist and fog patches will develop after dark.

Highest temperatures of 4 to 8 Celsius generally, but milder near coasts, with light to moderate southerly winds developing.

Gradually becoming milder through the weekend. Becoming dull with rain and drizzle at times early next week.

SATURDAY NIGHT

A generally cloudy night with a good deal of dry weather, though there will be some patchy drizzle near Atlantic coasts. Some mist and fog will develop too. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees, a little milder near southern coasts in a light to moderate southerly breeze.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 12

Overcast with patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle developing over the western half of the country.

Staying dry further east.

Gradually turning milder through the day with afternoon temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds.

SUNDAY NIGHT

A much milder, breezy night with patchy light rain and drizzle.

Lowest temperatures early on of 7 to 10 degrees, with temperatures rising overnight in fresh southerly winds.
