Construction approval confirmed for Mayo school
MINISTER of State Alan Dillon has welcomed confirmation from the Department of Education that approval has been granted to proceed to construction for the long-awaited extension at Scoil Bhreandáin National School, Bellmullet.
The project will see the construction of two new mainstream classrooms, delivered through a devolved delivery mechanism. This extension will provide essential additional space for the school community, offering students and staff a modern, comfortable environment to support learning and growth.
Said Minister Dillon: “This is fantastic news for the students, parents and staff of Scoil Bhreandáin NS. I know how important this extension is to the school and the wider community in Eachleim.
“It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of the school leadership, who have been advocating tirelessly for improved facilities.
“Education is the foundation of our community, and projects like this ensure that our children have access to the best possible resources to thrive in their education. I am delighted to see the government’s commitment to investing in Mayo rural schools like Scoil Bhreandáin and in the future of our young people.”
Minister Dillon also acknowledged the efforts behind the project. “I want to recognise the collaborative work of the school principal, Ferdia Ó Mongáin, the school board, local representatives, and officials at the Department of Education in bringing this project to fruition.
“I look forward to seeing construction commence soon and to visiting the school once the new classrooms are complete.”
