Passing of Mayo building contractor is deeply regretted

Castlebar based building contractor Sean McDonnell, who has passed away after a brief illness, is remembered in one of many online tributes as “a true gentleman who touches the lives of everyone he met."

Sean, a keen athlete in his younger years, who completed a number of Dublin Marathons, passed away on Friday at Galway University Hospital.

He is survived by his heartbroken family: wife, Maureen and nine children Sandra, Sinéad, Noel, Patricia, Seanie, Maria, Joanne, Joseph, and Sheelagh as well as fifteen grandchildren.

Known for his industrious nature, Sean founded and operated a successful building company, Sean McDonnell Contractors Limited, with offices at Spencer Park in the county town.

In other online tributes Sean is remembered as “a kind and generous man who worked hard all his life."

A Castlebar family sadly posted their memory of Sean as “a wonderful, kind hearted, pure gentleman who will be sadly missed but never forgotten."

Sean’s remains will repose at Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, tomorrow (Monday) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with removal afterwards to his home in Spencer Park.
