Warm tributes paid to wonderful Mayo woman Rosaleen McNicholas on her passing
WARM tributes are being paid to the late Rosaleen McNicholas, Kiltimagh, who has died, in her 102nd year.
Last year Rosaleen was the pride of the local community when she led the St. Patrick's Day parade in Kiltimagh, accompanied by three generations of her family.
In a tribute, Kiltimagh Tourism Festivals, organisers of the annual March parade and festival in the town, said: “We remember with pride Mrs. Rosaleen McNicholas, who at the tender age of 100 years led our 2024 St. Patrick's Day Parade alongside three generations of her family.
“We remember the great strength and determination Rosaleen showed on that day and the joy she brought to every person who watched on with awe.
“Rosaleen leaves a wonderful legacy in her family, neighbours, friends and all she encountered through her long life.
“Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go to all Rosaleen’s family.”
Other tributes paid online recall a vivacious and energetic lady, who lived life to the full and will be fondly remembered by the many people whose lives she touched.
Rosaleen (née McInerney), from Treenagleragh, Kiltimagh, and formerly of Kilnaleck, Co. Cavan, was predeceased by her husband Jimmy, parents Eoin and Mary, brothers Paddy, Eugene and Fr. Seamus McInerney and sisters Bridgie, Mae and Kathy.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Anthony (Eibhlin), Mary (Peter), Aileen (Declan), Christine (Mickey), Geraldine (Roger) and Brid (Chris), her 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Walter McNicholas (Mary), nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.
Reposing is in O'Hora's Funeral Home, Kiltimagh, on Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. Following funeral Mass in the Church of the Holy Family, Kiltimagh, on Wednesday at 12 noon, she will be laid to rest in Kilkinure Cemetery.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.
