End of an era for east Mayo Christmas lights scheme
IT'S the end of an era for the annual Christmas lights scheme in Swinford.
Paddy McNulty, electrician, has been faithfully storing, restoring, maintaining and erecting the Christmas lights in the town for almost an incredible 50 years.
He is now retiring from the scheme, having first started in 1978.
It is only fitting that this service to the community be acknowledged and the present committee and all who have been involved over the years want to sincerely thank Paddy for his unbroken commitment to the town.
He and his wife Kitty more than deserve a huge thank you from both the residents and business people of Swinford. A huge thanks also to his teams of helpers.
The Christmas lights add immensely to the festive season and once again thanks has been extended by the committee to all who contribute every year.
The message to Paddy and Kitty is: Wishing you a long and happy retirement and the very best of luck for the future from committee members Joe Mellett, Tom Lavin, Kevin Nestor and Marie Mellett.
