Mayo hospital frontline staff facing overcrowded conditions

Up to 22 patients are awaiting beds at Mayo University Hospital today.

That's as a result over overcrowding and a shortage of accommodation.

Six are on trolleys in the emergency department and 16 in wards elsewhere.

Nationally, 672 admitted patients are waiting for beds, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch.

Of those, 436 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 236 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
