Lost Mayo sports medal from '50s reunited with owner

A GAA medal won 68 years ago, found lost in Claremorris in recent days, is being reunited with its owner.

The owner of the medal, won in the late '50s, was found following a social media campaign by Garrymore GAA Club.

The club shared photos of the medal and winning team in its bid to find out who owned the missing medal, and last night they shared an update: 'Owner found'.

The South Mayo Junior Championship medal from 1957 was found outside the Bank of Ireland in Claremorris recently.

Garrymore GAA appealed to anyone who had lost the medal or knew who owned it to get in touch, and last night issued a positive update.

The club also shared the photo below of the 1957 team.
