Mayo Labour Party representative appointed a Peace Commissioner
Mayo Labour Party representative Kamal Uddin has been appointed a Peace Commissioner by the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee.
Speaking following the appointment, Kamal said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as a Peace Commissioner for Mayo by the Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee, as prescribed under Section 88 of the Courts of Justice Act 1924.
"Over the past number of years through my involvement in community work I have often been approached by members of the public requesting assistance with official documents.
"This appointment will allow me to provide a better service to the people of Mayo.”
Mr. Uddin, a businessman based in Castlebar, contested last June's local elections as a member of the Labour Party.
He previously stood as an independent in the 2000 general election.
