Death of 'lovely personality' Paddy McGovern grieved in Mayo
The death has occurred of Paddy McGovern, Tullycommons, Snugboro, Castlebar, and late of The Quay, Newport.
News of his passing yesterday evoked a sense of great regret and loss in the community.
The deceased had a long association with the motor trade in west Mayo and he ran his own taxi business, Paddy Max, in the county town in recent years.
A tribute to him on social media stated: "It was always a pleasure to be in his company. The banter and craic were great."
Another said: "What a lovely personality Paddy had. So placid and kind."
He is greatly missed by his wife Mary, daughters Aislinn and Róisín, granddaughter Síomha, son-in-law David, Róisín’s partner Shane, sister Trish (Hoban) and her husband Ger, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncle, nephews, nieces, relatives, great friends and neighbours, to whom sympathy is tendered.
He was predeceased by his parents Patricia and Johnny (Newport), brothers John and Desmond and parents-in-law Paddy and Margaret (Tourmakeady).
Paddy will repose at Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Friday from 5 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to his residence.
Removal from his residence on Saturday morning at 10.15 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.
Paddy will be laid to rest afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
