McStay sets out stall for Mayo's Croke Park test as Neary handed debut

Mayo GAA senior football team manager Kevin McStay and his management team has named the team for the opening round of the Allianz National Football League Division One game against Dublin tomorrow at 7.30 p.m. in Croke Park.

Mayo and Dublin will meet for the 40th time in the league on Saturday evening, with the first meeting taking place in 1934 and the most recent in 2024.

Mayo have won 13 of the previous 39 meetings, with Dublin winning 22, and there have been four drawn games - in 1934, 1996, 2009 and 2014. The 2010 meeting between the counties in MacHale Park was abandoned at half-time due to fog and was re-fixed, with Mayo winning by 0-20 to 0-8.

Croke Park has become a familiar venue for Mayo in the league, and Saturday’s game will be the 55th league game that Mayo have played there, including 17 appearances in finals.

Only MacHale Park in Castlebar and James Stephens Park in Ballina have hosted more Mayo league games.

Young Breaffy forward Davitt Neary is in line to make his first competitive debut with the Mayo senior team, which will be captained by Stephen Coen.

This game will be played under the new rules. Down referee Paul Faloon will be the man in the middle for this encounter.

The Allianz National Football League Division 1 match-up between Mayo and Dublin will be broadcast live on TG4, with coverage beginning at 7.15 p.m. It will be broadcast live on Midwest Radio too, with Michael D. McAndrew and former Mayo player Rob Hennelly on commentary.

Mayo GAA will have updates across all social media platforms on Saturday.
