Plans for west Mayo cemetery extension
PLANS for an extension to the cemetery in Ballycroy are due to come before members of the Westport-Belmullet Municipal District at their monthly meeting on Monday afternoon.
The Part 8 planning application is a welcome development with elected members expressing concern about the lack of burial space in numerous cemeteries around the county.
The proposed development in Ballycroy consists of an extension to the existing burial ground, with a new boundary wall, new parking, internal footpaths and landscaping.
Submissions on the project were invited from members of the public but none were received.
The recommendation to councillors is to proceed with the plans before them.
