Go-ahead for 26 new homes in south Mayo

A HOUSING boost is on the way for Claremorris.

A 26-unit development at Ardroe has been granted planning permission by Mayo County Council.

It will consist of five detached houses, 10 semi-detached and 11 terrace houses.

The developers are EBV Construction Limited.

The site is on the outskirts of Claremorris town, 2.4 ha in size, and forms part of an unfinished development, ‘Ard Rua’, which was previously granted planning permission.

Two third party objections were submitted to council planners.

Issues raised included inadequate roads and footpaths in the estate, loss of community open space and impact on view and natural light.

Planners ruled in favour of the development, subject to a number of conditions.
