Hard-hit Mayo homes facing longer wait for power restoration
Hundreds of homes across Mayo still without a power supply since Storm Eowyn are facing the prospect of not being restored until Wednesday, February 5.
According to ESB Networks, 57,000 properties nationally remain without electricity.
In many cases, this is also impacting on their water supply, which requires pumping, as well as their heating systems.
Fallen trees have been cited as one of the main cause of outages.
The agency has indicated that it will be Wednesday next before all restoration works are completed
That deadline could change over the coming days.
