Approval for 86 new homes in north Mayo town
A HOUSING development comprising of 86 new homes in north Mayo has received planning permission from Mayo County Council.
Developers Thawside Ltd. originally proposed a 92-unit development at Friars Court, Laghtadawannagh, Killala Road, Ballina, but that number was reduced during the planning process.
The project comprises a mix of housing sizes and is phase two of the existing Friars Court residential development.

Residents of Friars Court raised a number of concerns with planners, including the use of the existing access road through the estate and the existing road infrastructure being inadequate.
Traffic safety and existing congestion due to close proximity to Culleens school was also raised.
Pyrite in the existing Friars Court scheme was another issue highlighted in the submissions.
