‘Problematic’ Mayo greenway route design being progressed and reviewed
THE preferred route design for the proposed Belclare-Murrisk greenway is being progressed and reviewed.
An update was requested by Councillor Brendan Mulroy at the monthly municipal district.
District head Seamus Ó Mongáin said the indication was that March is when they will next be able to bring forward any new information.
It's currently in review. The design is being progressed and reviewed.
Councillor Mulroy said it needs to be dealt with as it is creating problems for people. It is problematic and needs to be dealt with, he emphasised.
“I can't figure out how they have not arrived at a decision for a preferred route,” he added.
Everyone knows what it's going to be, he said, and it needs to be sorted.
Mr. Ó Mongáin said work is ongoing to make it satisfactory for everyone and they are working hard to make sure the greenway gets to Louisburgh.
Final environmental evaluation will decide if the project comes before the council via Part 8 for planning approval or An Bord Pleanála.
At the moment Part 8 is the proposal, Mr. Ó Mongáin added.
