Mayo county town to host three-day summer music festival
Plans have been revealed for an exciting new music festival in Castlebar on August Bank Holiday weekend next.
A small group of volunteers is involved in the promotion with one common goal - to create a new and unique music festival that pays homage to past events in Castlebar, such as The Blues Festival, The Song Contest and The Occasion at the Castle.
This new festival will combine the best aspects of these events into a fresh, vibrant celebration of music and community.
It will be a free music event featuring two renowned tribute acts as headliners, along with a mix of new and established local talent.
This initiative aims to:
· Bring the community together.
· Promote local businesses.
· Provide a platform for music enthusiasts to enjoy high-quality entertainment at no cost.
Free admission is expected to attract a large audience, with revenue generated through sponsorships, grants and optional donations.
It also plans to showcase talented acts while providing exposure for local artists and businesses.
On Friday and Saturday nights, August 1 and 2, local acts will perform in various pubs, rotating venues throughout the weekend to maximize exposure.
On Sunday, August 3, the main event takes place at Hoban's carpark, off Main Street, where open-air stage will host headliners and selected local acts.
Tribute acts - Qween (Queen) and IE/DC (AC/DC) - are provisionally booked.
This is a community-run, non-profit event. Funds raised will be used solely to cover costs.
