ESB announces further outages for east Mayo residents

Minister of State Alan Dillon TD has confirmed that approximately 1,000 ESB customers in the Charlestown area will face a planned power outage today, February 6 as crews work to repair infrastructure damaged during Storm Éowyn.

The Fine Gael Minister said the emergency works, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., are essential to facilitate urgent upgrades and safety repairs to the network.

"ESB Networks has informed me that seven areas will be affected by today's planned outage," Minister Dillon said. "These include Curry Village, Charlestown, Leavy, Sandy Hill, Chaffpool, Carrowkeel, and Doocastle."

The Minister acknowledged the disruption this would cause to both families and businesses in the affected areas. "I understand this is a difficult time for many customers, particularly those who have already experienced outages due to the storm. However, these works are necessary to ensure the safe restoration of power to all affected areas."
