Mayo parish in mourning over passing of Alice Joyce
The death has occurred of Alice Joyce (née Jordan), Magherafadda, Ballyheane, Castlebar, and formerly of Clogher, Breaffy, Castlebar,.
She died peacefully yesterday at Mayo University Hospital in her 88th year.
She will be sadly missed by her heartbroken husband Joseph, son Christopher (Castlebar) daughter Valerie, daughter-in-law Mary and Valerie’s partner Kevin, by her cherished grandchildren Deirdre, Leah, Catherine and Jessica, her godchild Connie and Connie’s husband Kevin and their children Martin and Jayden, her sister Eileen and her husband Ray (U.K) and her sister Freda (U.K), her nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
Alice was predeceased by her parents Martin and Ellen (née Parkinson), her brothers Paddy, Willie, John Martin and her sister Bridie.
In her younger days Alice worked in Lavelle’s Bakery in Castlebar and later in St. Mary’s Hospital, where she was held in high esteem by her work colleagues and all she came in contact with.
She loved listening to music and she also enjoyed dancing.
Alice was a great animal lover and she took great care of her dogs and her hens. In her spare time she enjoyed listening to the radio and reading the paper.
She was very well regarded in the Ballyheane area and she will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Alice will repose at Ballyheane Community Centre tomorrow (Friday) from 6 to 7.30 p.m., with removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyheane. at 7.40 p.m.
Funeral Mass on Saturday at 11.30 a.m. with interment afterwards in Ballyheane Cemetery.
