Mayo in must-win territory as Tyrone come to Swinford on Sunday
Mayo face Tyrone on Sunday in what is a battle of the bottom two in Division 1 of the LGFA Lidl National League.
Both teams have lost two from two, and will see this round three fixture – to be played in Swinford Amenity Park – as a great chance to kick-start their season.
After losing out to a Vikki Wall-inspired Meath last Monday, Mayo will be hoping that home advantage can swing this one in their favour.
Tyrone, meanwhile, were well beaten by Armagh last weekend and have found the going tough to date after coming up from Division 2.
Both camps have made changes to their starting team for this encounter. For Mayo, Charlie Reilly Benson replaces Roisin Dyar in goal, with Niamh Mooney and Ciara Whyte named to start in place of Saoirse Delaney and Bree Hession.
On the Tyrone side, Grainne McKenna, Slaine McCarroll and Aoife Horisk get the nod to start, with Eimear Quinn, Sasha Byrne and Aoife Quinn dropping out.
The Mayo team in full is as follows: C. Reilly Benson; E. Brennan, S. Lally, D. Caldwell; N. Mooney, S. El Massry, H. Reape; E. Murray, A. Geraghty; L. Wallace, A. Gough, C. Durkin; M. Cannon, S. Walsh, C. Whyte.
The Tyrone starting XV is: A. Coyle; J. Lyons, J. Barrett, G. McKenna; C. Canavan, M. Corrigan, A. Strain; A. McHugh, M. Mallon; S. McCarroll, C. Campbell, E. McNamee; C. McCaffrey, M. Canavan, A. Horisk.
Leading up to the game, Mayo LGFA has been urging supporters to come out in force and fill Swinford Amenity Park on Sunday (February 9). Every adult ticket purchased for Sunday's game will automatically be entered into a draw for an unforgettable match-day experience, with the winner receiving two tickets to the Mayo v Armagh GAA and LGFA double-header at BOX-IT Athletic Grounds, Armagh, on Saturday, February 22, along with an overnight stay for two at the Four Seasons Hotel & Leisure Club, Monaghan (see full details here).
The match can be viewed live at https://www.247.tv/live/svmstreaming for those unable to attend in person.
Elsewhere in Division 1 this weekend, Saturday’s only game is the clash between Dublin and title holders Armagh at Parnell Park and can be seen live on TG4 at 3.30 p.m., while the other two fixtures – Kerry v Kildare and Meath v Waterford – will all be live to view at https://www.247.tv/live/svmstreaming.
