Warm tributes to Mayo delivery driver who died tragically

Tributes are being paid to the Mayo delivery driver who died tragically in a road accident between Mulranny and Ballycroy last Thursday.

He is deeply regretted by his loving family: sons Sean and Rian and their mother Siobhan, his parents John and Mary, brother Patrick, aunts Eileen Heraty and Nonie Flynn, uncles Pat Murphy, Marty, Tom, Sean and Mick Hoban, his partner Madara, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom heartfelt sympathy is tendered.

Fond tributes are being paid to the deceased on social media.

One stated: "I have such fond memories of him which I will cherish forever. He was always so helpful and kind to me down through the years."

Another said: "MJ was a true gentleman, always greeted you with a smile, a great man for chats and banter. A great work colleague."

A further tribute outlined: "Micheal John loaded his van outside our bakery door, it was always a joy to walk around the corner every morning (very early) and be greeted with his humour, he was diligent, efficient and just sound. We had lots of chats and plenty of banter over the last few months."

His remains will be reposing at his residence (F28 DC61) tomorrow (Sunday) from 4 until 7 p.m.

(A one way system will be in place entering off the Castlebar Road at Upper Drummindoo and exiting onto the Lodge Road, Westport).

Requiem Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Westport on Monday at 11 a.m. with funeral proceeding to Aughavale Cemetery.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
