Cold and cloudy conditions set to continue across Mayo

Mayo should brace for a chilly and mostly cloudy day on Wednesday, February 12, as unsettled weather conditions to persist across the county.

Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will be most common in western areas, with temperatures peaking between 5 and 7 degrees Celsius.

Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds will add to the brisk feel, with stronger gusts expected along coastal regions.

Looking ahead to Wednesday night, conditions will remain cloudy, with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle gradually moving eastward.

There is a slight chance of sleet over higher ground, particularly in elevated areas of the county. The heaviest rainfall is expected in the west and southwest, accompanied by patches of mist and hill fog.

However, many areas will see dry spells, with only light and patchy rain elsewhere.

Temperatures overnight will range from 2 to 5 degrees Celsius, with milder conditions prevailing in the southwest. A moderate southeast wind will persist, strengthening at times along western and southwestern coastal areas.

The overall weather pattern for the rest of the week remains cool but mostly free from frost. Breezy conditions are expected at times, with rain and drizzle becoming slightly more widespread as the week progresses.
