Mayo weather latest as strong gale force winds to hit the coast

A spell of wet and windy conditions appear to be on the horizon, according to the latest forecast.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 13

It will be mostly cloudy again tomorrow, with patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle for a time in the morning before easing off.

Becoming windy through the afternoon, with more persistent rain spreading from the south west in the evening.

Highest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees, with moderate to fresh and gusty south easterly winds increasing strong to near gale force in coastal parts.

THURSDAY NIGHT

Wet and windy conditions in the southwest will gradually spread north eastwards over the country on Thursday night.

Some heavy bursts in parts of the south and west could cause spot flooding, and some temporary falls of sleet may occur about high ground in parts of Connacht, Ulster and Leinster.

Fresh to strong and gusty south easterly winds, with gales along western and southern coasts for a time, will slowly ease from the southwest overnight.

Lowest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees, but less cold in the southwest and near the south coast.
