Mayo councillor provides update on road closure "works to begin tomorrow"
Independent Castlebar councillor Harry Barrett has provided an update on the ongoing road closure at Lower Charles Street, which has caused significant traffic disruptions in the town.
According to Barrett, materials for supporting the damaged front wall of the affected building have arrived on-site, with the contractor set to begin erecting props tomorrow morning.
The closure, now in its 18th day, stems from a gas explosion on January 26 at the former Tulsi Restaurant, most recently known as Imperial Blue Restaurant. The building, a 160-year-old protected structure, has made restoration efforts more complex, leading to extended road restrictions.
Motorists have faced heavy congestion, particularly during rush hour, and locals are eager for a resolution.
Further updates are expected as work progresses.
