€849,600 investment in local Mayo road projects welcomed

DEPUTY Keira Keogh has welcomed the allocation of €849,600 for vital road maintenance and improvement projects across Mayo, emphasising the importance of investing in safer, more reliable infrastructure for local communities.

“This is a significant investment in Mayo’s road network, ensuring that much-needed repairs and upgrades can take place to improve safety and connectivity across the county,” Deputy Keogh said.

The funding will support key road projects, including:

•     €60,000 for Bangor Erris (R313)

•     €53,000 for Quay Road, Ballina (L-1100)

•     €49,600 for Ballykine, Cong (R345)

•     €47,000 for Milebush Road, Castlebar (L1704)

•     €45,000 for Dooega, Achill (LT-54442)

•     €40,000 for Toorglas Road, Belmullet (L-5285)

•     €35,000 for Liscloavan, Westport (L-1806) and Rath, Kilkelly (L-1914/L-1915 Junction)

•     €32,000 for Srah, Tourmakeady (R300)

•     €30,000 for Glenhest, Newport (R317)

“These are just some of the 21 projects receiving funding, and each one will make a real difference in improving road conditions, reducing hazards, and ensuring safer journeys for families, businesses, and visitors,” Deputy Keogh added.

She also highlighted the importance of continued investment in both road infrastructure and road safety measures.

“Upgrading our roads is a major step forward, but we also need to focus on driver education, enforcement, and long-term planning to reduce accidents and save lives.

“I will continue pushing for further investment to ensure Mayo has a safer and more efficient transport network.”
