Go-ahead for new trailhead on Mayo greenway

A NEW trailhead for the greenway in Achill has received permission to proceed.

It will be located at the rear of Ted Lavelle's pub in Cashel.

The trailhead will boast a range of facilities that will be welcomed by visitors to the recently extended greenway, including 11 car-parking spaces, bike parking, bicycle rental and a maintenance shed/structure and bicycle charging points.

Other facilities include a toilet pod, sheltered picnic pod, public information board, waste collection facilities, and a picnic seating area.

The project also involves a new vehicular entrance from the neighbouring public roadway.

The facility will be a resource and amenity for the public, serving as a starting point for those using the greenway and supplementing the existing facilities already in place.
