Public safety concern over damaged Mayo river fence near school grounds
Concerns are being raised over the public risk posed by a broken fence along the Town River on the grounds of Marsh House where Castlebar Educate Together National School is located.
A worried parent has been in contact with The Connaught Telegraph in respect of the matter.
The parent outlined: "I wish to bring your attention to the fact that the fence along the river at Marsh House, Castlebar, still has not been repaired 25 days after Storm Eowyn.
"Marsh House is home to Castlebar Educate Together National School, whose pupils utilise this area as their recreational space as they still have no yard/school of their own.
"Children are magnetically drawn to playing amongst the fallen tree debris next to this gap which opens directly to the water.
"I am pleading with the council to take urgent action to address serious health and safety concerns at the location."
Meanwhile, residents of Marian Row and Pound Road are still awaiting action in removing a very large tree which is in danger of falling at the location in the aftermath of the storm.
