Severe rental shortage hits Mayo as listings dwindle

Mayo is facing a worsening rental crisis, with only a handful of properties available across the county, according to the latest figures from property website Daft.ie.

In Castlebar, the county town, just three homes are listed for rent, while Ballina has only two. Westport, a popular tourist destination, has just three rental properties, all located on the outskirts.

Meanwhile, Claremorris has no available rentals, and Ballinrobe has only three.

With just over 30 properties listed countywide, Mayo's private rental market remains under extreme pressure, driving up costs and exacerbating homelessness.

The figures show the growing challenge for tenants seeking accommodation, as supply continues to tighten across the county.
