A wet and windy start on Friday with spells of heavy rain.

Brighter weather with a mix of sunshine and scattered showers will extend from the west through the morning.

Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in strong and gusty southerly winds veering southwest and easing somewhat with the clearing.

FRIDAY NIGHT

Plenty of dry and clear weather on Friday night but there'll be a few showers in Atlantic coastal counties.

Cooler than previous nights with lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees in a moderate southwest breeze.
