Mayo Young Sports Stars: A name we are likely to hear much more of in coming years
Budding young sports star Victoria Palamarczuk is a name we are likely to hear a lot more of in the coming years.
While she is receiving The Connaught Telegraph Young Sports Stars Award for rugby following her magnificent exploits with Sacred Heart School, Westport, in 2024 after delivering numerous fantastic performances in helping her school win the Connacht Under 14 Junior Rugby Plate Championship final, she is also a very keen Gaelic football and soccer player.
Indeed, such is her tremendous sporting ability that she is presently a member of both the Mayo Under 14 LGFA and the Mayo Under 14 soccer squads.
But if the Newport native is making headlines in both Gaelic and soccer, she is certainly also doing so in rugby. Her try-scoring ability is second to none, which was a major factor in her school's great exploits in Connacht rugby in 2024.
By all accounts, Victoria is seen as a young rugby player who has the ability to go right to the top, and it will come as no great surprise to see her representing Connacht and Ireland in the future.
The Connaught Telegraph Mayo Young Sports Stars Awards gala ceremony will be held on Friday, March 7, in Breaffy House Resort, Castlebar. For details, contact Aiden Henry on (087) 6582141 or aiden.henry@con-telegraph.ie.
