Canopy proposed for popular Mayo playground
A canopy should be installed over the popular playground at Lough Lannagh in Castlebar.
The suggestion to weather-proof the facility has been made by Councillor Ger Deere.
He explained how the playground is used by hundreds of families on a weekly basic but because of the wet weather conditions being experienced all throughout the year now, it would be a great addition to erect a canopy over the playground so it could be enjoyed during all weather conditions.
Said Councillor Deere: “The whole area of Lough Lannagh is such a wonderful amenity, which has seen so many additions in recent months, such as the first phase of the skate park, while it is hoped to commence phase two soon along with the climbing wall at the leisure complex.
“A new seated shelter and jetty were also installed In recent months.
“I have proposed that funding for the canopy be included in the Community Recognition Fund to be announced shortly."
