West Mayo communities mourn passing of Anne (Doll) Gannon

The death has occurred of Anne Gannon (née Daly) better known as Doll, “Kantara”, Breaffy Road, Castlebar, and formerly of Westport.

She died peacefully at the Mayo Hospice, Castlebar, surrounded by her loving family.

A member of a popular and widely-respected family, news of her passing has evoked a great sense of loss in the community.

Anne is sadly missed by her heartbroken daughters and sons - Anne, Tommy, Olive, Alan and Karen - and their partners, her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her niece Ann, cousins, relatives and many friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

She was predeceased by her husband Austin (Austie), her beloved sons Joe, John and Michael, parents Nora and Tom, her sisters Kathleeen and Betty and her brother Thomas.

A tribute to Anne on social media described her as 'a wonderfully kind lady and a great neighbour over all the years'.

Doll will repose in Kilcoyne’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, this evening (Sunday) from 5.30 to 7 p.m.

Removal from her home on Monday at 10.30 a.m. arriving to St. Aloysius Church, Breaffy, for Requiem Mass 11.30 a.m.

Interment takes place afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
