Super start to season for young Mayo tennis star
Mayo tennis ace Eoghan Jennings has had a fantastic start to the 2025 season by winning the National Under-18 Indoor Championship in January and this week winning his first international tournament, a Tennis Federation Under 18 competition held in Donnybrook in Dublin.
Westport Tennis Club is very excited to see Eoghan back on the court competing again as he has been sidelined with injury for much of 2024.
Eoghan started playing tennis at the age of 6 and was hooked immediately.
He has had a remarkable junior tennis career winning national titles at every junior grade from under 12 upwards.
Eoghan has also played representative tennis for Ireland, competing in the prestigious Junior Orange Bowl in Miami and in the Junior Youth Olympics in 2022 and 2023.
None of this would be possible without sacrifice and dedication on Eoghan’s part combined with the work of the huge support network behind Eoghan, in particular his coach Garrett Barry who has coached Eoghan since the age of six, and his wider coaching team who have had a huge impact on
Eoghan’s success and nurtured and encouraged him through the good and the challenging times of Eoghan’s tennis playing career.
Eoghan is a special talent in Irish tennis who Westport Tennis Club is very proud of and he is also a great role model for our up and coming junior tennis players.
Congratulations Eoghan, we look forward to following your progress for many years to come.
