Passing of founder member of leading Mayo company is deeply regretted
The death has occurred of Michael Walsh, Minnesota, U.S.A, and formerly of Claremorris.
The deceased was the founder of long-established Claremorris firm, DeCare Dental, Ireland’s only specialist dental insurer.
He is sadly missed by his wife Maureen (Minnesota), son Michael (New York), daughters Maureen (Claremorris) and Elizabeth (Utah), brother John (Dunshaughlin), sister Peggy (Dundalk), grandchildren Méadbh, Michael, Lily and Brandon, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, and wide circle of colleagues and friends, both in Ireland and the U.S.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
Michael was predeceased by his first wife Peg, parents Gerard and Maureen, sister Mary and brother Desmond.
Fond tributes are being paid to him on social media.
One stated: "Despite his considerable success in the United States, Michael never lost touch with his Mayo roots.
"His loyalty and commitment to his home town of Claremorris speaks volumes."
Another said: "A proud son of Claremorris, Michael has left a great legacy."
A further tribute recalled: "Michael was one of the great Claremorris football players back in the 1960s and also a great Claremorris man."
Funeral will take place in the USA at a later date.
