Funding of €413,000 awarded to Mayo Sports Partnership – Minister Dillon
Minister of State, Alan Dillon TD, has welcomed investment of €413,294 in Local Sports Partnership and Participation Sports Innovation Projects across the county.
The funding includes €25,000 for Women in Sport projects in Mayo.
Minister Dillon said a record investment of €31.3 million in core funding support to sporting organisation, through Sport Ireland, was announced today by the Minister Patrick O’Donovan at the Department of Arts, Media, Communications, Culture and Sport.
This is the highest ever level of Core investment. It has increased by over €1.6m since 2024 and €13.5m over the lifecycle of the National Sports Policy 2018-2027.
Minister Dillon said, “This is a significant investment in Mayo and I am delighted that €413,294 has been allocated to Mayo Sports Partnership who do such valuable work with sporting and community groups throughout the county.”
This year €18.3m is being invested in National Governing Bodies of Sport, with Swimming Activators supporting the first-ever National Swimming Strategy, and a Disability in Sport Lead being appointed, as well as a new dedicated events investment policy for the hosting of smaller scale international sporting events in 2026.
Almost €12m has been invested in the network of 29 Local Sport Partnerships, with a significant increase to the Women in Sport allocation - delivering initiatives for women in disadvantaged communities, older women and teenage girls, and those with a disability or who come from ethnic minority backgrounds.
Minister Dillon said, “in this regard, a total of €25,000 has been allocated to support women in sport across Mayo.”
Minister Dillon added, “I welcome this allocation of over €413,000 in the county for core and programme funding. Mayo Sports Partnership are at the heart of sport in Mayo and are key to achieving our aim of increasing participation in sport across Mayo.
This significant investment will support the implementation of important programmes and activities across a diverse range of sports throughout the county while also supporting women in sport.”
