Honorary life membership awarded to Mayo IFA man

IFA honorary life membership has been awarded to south Mayo farmer Michael Biggins.

A member of Glencorrib IFA branch, he was presented with his life membership at the Mayo IFA executive annual general meeting.

A suckler farmer based in Glencorrib, Michael has served in a number of roles within the IFA, both in the county and nationally, over the years, including as national rural development chair, a four-year term which he completed in January 20204.

He has also led the organisation at county level as Mayo IFA chairman, as well as serving on the national livestock committee and on South Mayo Leader and other community groups.

IFA deputy president Alice Doyle was guest speaker at the meeting, which heard of the political upheaval on the world stage and its likely impact on agriculture across Europe, along with the importance of stable government and key farming lobbyists such as the IFA.
