'Hooley in the Hall’ for south Mayo town's St. Patrick’s celebrations
CLAREMORRIS Town Hall Theatre in association with Claremorris Community Sports & Recreational Centre presents the inaugural ‘Hooley in the Hall’ - a traditional music and dance event, full of ceol agus craic, on Sunday evening, March 16.
Following on from the programme of events for the day in Claremorris, with the now traditional annual parade starting at 3 p.m., the concert will conclude a special St. Patrick’s Day series of activities and a great night’s entertainment is assured.
Starting at 8.30 p.m., following the fireworks display nearby, the line-up of local performers includes Chloe Feeney Music, the Music Generation Mayo Harpists, Gráinne Hambly & William Jackson, and the Gilligan’s Bar trad group. Sean-nós dancing will also feature on the programme.
Compere for the evening is Colman O’Raghallaigh. Special guests will also be in attendance.
“This event will perfectly round off a great weekend of activities, following the parade and fireworks, and leads into the convoy of St. Colman’s supporters heading to Croke Park the next day, to play in the All-Ireland post-primary schools final for the Hogan Cup.
“We are grateful for the participation of the local traditional music talent that will be performing on stage and it’s the next phase of our ongoing fundraising efforts to establish the new community sports and recreational centre for the town and surrounding areas,” commented Jarlath Sweeney, committee co-chair.
Tickets are on sale now at €15 (plus booking fee). Log onto https://townhall.ie/.
There will be a full bar service on the night.
