Mayo parishes grieve passing of 'lovely lady' Phyllis Staunton

The death of Phyllis Staunton (née McHale), Clooncruel, Ballyheane, Castlebar, and Deerpark, Clogher, Claremorris, is deeply mourned in the community.

She died peacefully at home surrounded by loving family.

In her early 90s, the deceased was a member of the catering staff at Mayo University Hospital for many years.

Warm tributes are being paid to her on social medial.

"She was such a lovely lady, always had a smile and a kind word for everyone," one said.

Another stated: "She was always pleasant, so welcoming and loved to have a chat about everything."

She is deeply missed by her loving family: daughters Mary and Una, sons David, John, Richard, Eddie and Michael, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, daughters-in-law and sons-in-law, relatives, neighbours, many friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Richard Staunton, parents Mary Ellen and Michael McHale, twin sons Richard and Michael, brother and sisters Delia, Mike, Mary and Kathleen.

Remains reposing at Ballintubber Resource Centre this evening (Wednesday) from 5 until 7.30 p.m.

Removal from her daughter Una's home on Thursday morning to Ballintubber Abbey for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

Burial takes place afterwards in Ballyheane Cemetery.
