Death of retired Mayo school principal Maisie Murphy

The death has occurred of Maisie (Mary T.) Murphy (née Duffy), Ballinlassa, Belcarra, Castlebar, and formerly of Crumlin, Ballyglunin, Co. Galway.

She died peacefully yesterday in her 91st year at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Maisie, a highly regarded teacher, began her teaching career in Greenauns National School, Ross, and retired in 1999 as principal in Belcarra N.S.

She is sadly missed by her daughters Geraldine Foy (Westport), Anne (Belcarra), Paula (Castlebar), Angela Ng (Birmingham) and Patricia Keena (Belcarra), her son Kieran (Dubai), sons-in-law Martin Tolan and Kieran Keena, daughter-in-law Hilary Nallen-Murphy, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours, to whom sympathy is extended.

Maisie was predeceased by her loving husband Joe (Martin), daughter Sheila Tolan, parents Tom and Celia, brother Gabriel, sons-in-law Wai Hon Ng and Michael Foy.

Reposing at Belcarra Community Centre, Belcarra, Castlebar, on Saturday from 5.30 p.m., concluding with prayers at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass at St. Anne's Church, Belcarra, Castlebar, on Sunday at 2 p.m., after which she will be laid to rest in Elm Hall Cemetery, Belcarra.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
