Ballina selected to host Mayo Fleadh Cheoil 2025
Ballina has been officially named as the host town for Fleadh Cheoil Mhaigh Eo 2025. Taking place from May 3 to 11, this exciting event will bring together the finest traditional musicians, singers, and dancers for a celebration of Irish culture, music and heritage.
To build excitement ahead of the main festival, several events will take place in the lead-up to the Fleadh, including a special concert on April 19 and a launch event. These occasions will showcase the rich musical talent of Mayo and create a buzz in the community.
The Fleadh itself will feature competitions, street performances, céilís, workshops and lively sessions in local pubs and venues, ensuring an incredible atmosphere throughout Ballina.
Hosting the Fleadh is a major cultural and economic opportunity for Ballina, attracting visitors from across Ireland and beyond.
The chairperson of Bofield CCÉ and the Mayo Fleadh Committee, Michael O’Donnell, expressed excitement about the announcement, saying: “Ballina has a proud tradition of Irish music, and we’re honoured to welcome musicians and visitors for the Mayo Fleadh. This event is a celebration of culture, community and creativity, and we can’t wait to showcase the best of Mayo’s musical talent.”
Mairéad Melody Carr, manager of Mayo North Tourism, highlighted the economic significance of the event.
“The Mayo Fleadh is not just a cultural highlight, it’s a fantastic boost for local businesses, accommodation providers, and the wider community,” she said. “Events like this drive tourism, support jobs, and create a vibrant atmosphere in the town. We encourage everyone to get involved and experience the energy that the Fleadh brings to Ballina.”
