Mayo Under 16 girls team who will contest national inter-league final last this month.

Double header of national inter-league football finals coming to Mayo

Two national underage inter-league football finals will be staged in Mayo at the end of the month.

Securing the prestigious showdowns is a huge endorsement for youth soccer in the county and host club Westport United.

The Under 16 Girls Cup final will feature Mayo versus South Belfast, kicking off at Abbvie United Park, home ground of Westport United, at 12 noon on Saturday, March 29.

Later, at 2 p.m., South Belfast and Midlands will contest the Under 16 Boys Shield final.

It's a massive event and showcase for the Mayo Schoolboys/Girls League, where county teams are coordinated by John Flanagan.

The Mayo girls booked their place in the final with a 2-0 win over Waterford last month.

And as winners at Under 15 level last year, the team, led by manager Emma Gibbons and coach Kian Flanagan, will be keen to make it a double.
