St. Patrick's Day parades set to get underway in Mayo

A number of St. Patrick's Day Parades are taking place across Mayo today, 24 hours before the national holiday.

Because St. Patrick's Day is falling on a Bank Holiday Monday, it gives an opportunity to parade enthusiasts to attend more parades over a 48-hour period.

The celebrations kick-off in Bangor Erris and Killala where proceedings start at 12.30 p.m.

Claremorris and Kiltimagh hold their parades from 3 p.m. while the one in Foxford starts at 4 p.m.

The exciting Electric Light Parade in Crossmolina starts at 7.30 p.m.

The good weather is expected to attract large numbers to this weekend's celebrations.
