Sod turning for new Mayo athletics facility

CHARLESTOWN based East Mayo AC and East Mayo Special Olympics will turn the sod on their new running track and other facilities this week.

The sod turning event will take place on Wednesday, March 19, at 1 p.m. in Charlestown.

The development is a six-lane floodlit 200m running track with a 5G astro in the centre, long jump, throwing area and new cross country training layout.

The project will transform athletics for current members, Special Olympians and the stars of the future.

A major fundraising campaign is underway for the development, with the countdown on to a big Lip Sync Battle on March 29, with a great night's entertainment taking place in the Park Hotel, Kiltimagh.
