Mayo island's burst water main now repaired

Uisce Éireann crews have repaired a burst water main on Clare Island and a normal water supply is returning to customers.

Crews arrived on the island this morning to carry out repairs after the burst caused a disruption to supply for islanders in Kill, Glen, Fawnlass, Capnagower and the Quay.

Uisce Éireann’s Colette Scahill thanked residents and visitors to the island for their patience while crews worked throughout the day.

“We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are,” she said. “Water is now returning to all properties on the island.

“Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.”
