27-unit Mayo housing project approved

THERE'S good news on the future housing front in south Mayo.

Plans for a 27-unit housing project at Mayfield, Claremorris, have been approved.

There's a mix of home sizes in the development, which is being progressed by developers P. McHugh & Sons Ltd.

The site, 500m from the town centre, is 1.14ha in size and forms part of an existing residential development to the west.

The development was not fully completed and this area remained undeveloped.

A number of submissions were received by council planners, with concerns including traffic safety and that the existing estate has not been taken in charge.

Planners granted permission subject to a number of conditions.
