Clár funding of €62,500 for two Mayo islands
Minister of State Alan Dillon has welcomed funding of €62,495 for two projects on Inishturk and Clare Island. The funding has been awarded under Measure 3 of the 2024 Clár programme.
A total of €390,000 for 10 projects on the country's off-shore islands has been announced, funding that will be used to develop and enhance community facilities and amenities.
Of the Mayo total, €50,000 is for a community tractor and forklift to facilitate the transportation of goods and supplies on Inishturk, and €12,495 is for a solar powered recycling facility on Clare Island.
In total, eight islands off the coast of Cork, Donegal, Galway and Mayo will benefit from funding allocations.
Minister Dillon commented: “I am delighted that these investments will further enhance the quality of life for those living on Clare Island and Inishturk. Improvements in transport initiatives along with waste management measures are welcome.
“I want to commend the committee of Cliara Development Company on Clare Island along with Inishturk Community Club on their successful applications, and I hope this funding will assist in continuing to improve the quality of life of those who live on and visit both islands.”
