'Many Places Many People' theme for Mayo Day 2025
THE theme for Mayo Day 2025 is 'Many Places Many People'.
There's a change in format this year from a big flagship event to a range of community events spread out across communities in the county on May 3.
A flavour of locations hosting fun, free, family events confirmed to date are Westport, Inishturk, Swinford, Castlebar, Ballina, Ballycroy, Claremorris, National Museum of Country Life in Turlough and the libraries of Mayo, and in the evening the TF Royal Theatre will host a concert.
There's also an international element again this year, including New York, Chicago, Toronto, London, Luton, Sydney and Asia.
Full and further details will be confirmed nearer the date, members of Mayo County Council's planning and strategic development committee were told in an update.
Councillor Donna Sheridan welcomed the return of the women's mini-marathon to its 'rightful home' in Castlebar this year.
It was great to see smaller events taking place in smaller towns also, she said, as well as the big evening in the TF, a venue Castlebar is lucky to have and which brings people to the town every week.
