Mayo welcome Kildare to Swinford for crucial LGFA Division 1 encounter

While the bottom of Division 1 is not where Mayo would want to be heading into the final two rounds of the league, they still have a chance of survival.

To maintain that chance of avoiding the drop to Division 2, they must win at home to Kildare in Swinford Amenity Park at 3 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.

For Kildare, last year's Division 2 winners, the picture is a much clearer. Win tomorrow and they consign Mayo to relegation with one round of fixtures left to play, and they will be safe themselves if Tyrone fail to beat Dublin.

Mayo’s fifth defeat from five league outings came against Kerry and manager Liam McHale has altered one-third of his starting team for tomorrow's game.

Sherin El Massry, Aoife Geraghty, Chelsea Doherty, Annie Gough and Sinead Walsh are all named to start against Kildare, with Ciara Durkan, Ciara Whyte, Riona Jordan, Kayla Doherty and Maria Cannon dropping out of the starting team.

Kildare lost out to Armagh in their previous league game and there are two changes to their starting line-up as Leah Doran and Aoife Murnane come in for Lauren Murtagh and Ciara Price.

Elsewhere in Division 1, Armagh and Kerry will be aiming to book a repeat of their 2024 top flight decider.
