Historic Mayo property on the market for €3 million

A HISTORIC Mayo property, which has welcomed royalty in the past, is up for sale.

Newport House, a stately Georgian property overlooking the Black Oak River in Newport, is on the market for €3 million.

Sherry Fitzgerald are handling the sale of the property, which over the years hosted the late Princess Grace of Monaco and more recently her son, Prince Albert, on visits to their ancestral home in Newport.

Newport House is a masterpiece of Georgian elegance, constructed circa 1785, and for many years operated as an exclusive country house hotel.

It sits in a stunning setting overlooking the river as it runs into Clew Bay.

Celebrated as a premier fishing centre, Newport House holds exclusive fly-fishing rights to the internationally acclaimed Black Oak River, spanning eight miles along both banks, as well as to the pristine Lough Beltra West.
