Hospital overcrowding: Over 500 patients without a bed in hospitals across the country

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show that 506 people were without a bed in hospitals across the country on Wednesday.

349 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 157 are in hospital wards elsewhere.

The hospital with the highest number of patients on trolleys is University Hospital Limerick, with 104 people without a bed.

40 people are in the emergency department, with 60 elsewhere in the hospital.

There are 58 people without a bed in Cork University Hospital, with 51 in the emergency department.

In University Hospital Galway, there is 53 people without a bed, with 39 people in the emergency department.
